César Tralli made a live intervention during Jornal Hoje last Friday (23), addressing the relevance of the inclusion of people with disabilities in educational environments and in the job market. The journalist’s speech occurred shortly after the broadcast of a report that presented data from the 2022 Census.
The survey indicated that approximately 21% of people with disabilities (PWDs) aged 15 or over are illiterate. The report also highlighted the various barriers faced by this segment of the population in obtaining opportunities in the formal job market.
In a moment of relief, César Tralli shared his family experience to reinforce the urgency of the topic. He mentioned the difficulty in finding open doors for inclusion.
“Anyone who has a child, a relative like that, knows very well what it’s like,” said the anchor. He added to the statement when talking about his sister. “I had a sister with a physical and intellectual disability and I know the effort it took in my house, especially my mother’s, to achieve this inclusion ,” said the journalist.
The fight for educational and professional inclusion
César Tralli reported that, after much persistence, his mother managed to enroll her daughter in an educational institution. He described the learning process, despite the inherent difficulties. “She started studying, with all the difficulties, of course,” he said.
